From the field
The Millennium Bridge runs low across the Thames toward St Paul's, its dome lit pale against a sky still holding the last blue of the hour. I set up on the south bank as the light went out of the day and a thin mist settled over the river. The water was moving, but a thirty-second exposure smoothed it into a still sheet, pulling the warm window light and the street lamps down into long reflections beside the cold steel of the bridge. London at this hour goes quiet in a way the daytime city never does. I waited for the moment the sky and the lit dome held the same weight, then opened the shutter and let the river do the rest.
