The Vermilion Path

We had come up early to beat the crowds, climbing through the gates while the morning was still gray. Partway up I noticed the path lamps were still burning and that the way back down had emptied out behind us. I peeled off from the others, doubled back along one of the descending paths, and made this frame before the first visitors caught up.
